And yet more....Science is fun!

What can we do with a marshmallow, a cup and a balloon?!
We can explore the push force...

We will discuss and demonstrate that little force won't move an object very far (or very fast), but if you use BIG force, it will move faster and travel farther.

The Notion of Motion cnt...

Continuing on with our investigations we are also looking at the effect static electricity has on a corn starch mixture...

What is a 'Non Newtonian' substance?!

Another notion of motion...

This week Rm I will be looking into non Newtonian substances, static electricity and marshmallows?!
Here is a preview of one of our investigations...

Y.M.C.A- Creating Super Stars

Every Thursday after morning Tea and before Library, we have a session we love! We have YMCA Sports Star Creator. We learn many new skills and practise and practise them. If we are focused and on to it we get to utilise these new skills in a game!
Thank you Carla and Tracey :)

Get down and give us 5!
I am a little tiger cub, grrrr?!
Straight lines, listening well, what a class!

Run, run as fast as you can...

 Rm I loves to snuggle!
 Ethan is loving every second!

Still sporty...

We still continue to do 15 mins of Fitness daily with the Senior Team. When it rains we do Jump Jam in the hall! :)

Brian Falkner- Author Extraordinaire

Today the Senior Team was lucky enough to have Kiwi author Brian Falkner deliver a talk to us. He was an amazing speaker; entertaining and articulate. It was a really enjoyable presentation. I know that many others in Rm I now want to read some of his 13 books.
Our next class shared book may be one of his! Check him out on his website:

*Remember...What if?

Fascinating Friction!?

Room I (and the Senior Team) are investigating their new Inquiry topic; The Notion of Motion. Yesterday we talked about fair testing and how you change only one variable for each test.
Today we wrote a prediction, hypothesis, about what we thought would happen when we fair tested our racing cars on a ramp.
We all had the same surface and the same height to lean the ramp on. Each group had different cars and we repeated the testing.
We discussed why some cars went further and we decided it was because of their tyres and shape. The scientific words we are investigating are FRICTION and AERODYNAMICS.

Areodynamics: concerned with studying the motion of air, particularly when it interacts with a solid object.
Friction: is the force resisting the relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material elements sliding against each other.

Inspiring anti-bullying song

In our team assembly today we shared this video from Britain's Got Talent.
It was written and performed by a boy and his friend who are about the same age as us.
We enjoyed and admired the efforts gone into this performance.
